The staff are so proud of the progress of our members this season and the performance put forth in competition. Kari Klier, originally from Fredericksburg, Texas received performance degrees from Texas Tech University and the University of Colorado. Professor Klier is a senior lecturer at Texas State University, has a very active percussion studio in Austin, and performs regularly with the Austin Symphony. Her previous performance experiences include the San Antonio Symphony; the San Antonio Opera; the Mid-Texas Symphony; Chix with Stix, Atlanta, GA; the Denver Ballet; the Boulder Philharmonic; the Roswell Symphony Orchestra; the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra; the Santa Clara Vanguard and the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps. She has served on the Percussive Arts Society 50th Anniversary Marimba Orchestra committee and the International Competition committee. Professor Klier’s teaching experiences include Walton High School, Marietta, GA; Lassiter High School, Marietta, GA; the University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band; percussion specialist for the Judson Independent School District; the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps; and the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. She judges solo and ensemble competitions at the local and state levels. Kari Klier is an artist/educational clinician for the Vic Firth Company, Remo Percussion, and Zildjian Cymbals. In her limited free time, Kari enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, and family. She is also an avid triathlete, gamer and foody. We are pumped to have a pro like Adam Chrobak joining our visual team for #RF2018. He will work in conjunction with Luke our visual designer and Lilian our choreographer and steer the visual program this season. He currently teaches in the Austin area as a visual instructor at Vandegrift High School (2013-Current), and is going on his second year holding the position of Visual Caption Head at The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps (TX). Previous visual positions include Westlake High School (TX), The Woodlands High School (TX), South Pointe High School (SC), Lake Travis High School (TX), Round Rock High School Indoor, Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, and Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps. We’re excited to have Daniel Sharp joining the #RF2018 battery team as one of our tenor line instructors this season. Daniel Sharp is currently the Percussion Director and Assistant Band Director at Jourdanton High School in Jourdanton, Texas. Daniel graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Texas State University in 2011. Daniel has performed with various ensembles in central and south Texas, including the Texas State University PASIC Drumline, Austin Independent Indoor Drumline, Trinity Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Born and raised in Austin, Alex Ortega joins the Rhythmic Force staff with a special kind of enthusiasm and pride – Alex was one of the inaugural members of RF in 2004. He is extremely excited to bring his knowledge and experience back to the #RF2018 team! Alex is a Texas State Alum and was principal percussionist of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Orchestra, and also served as section leader of the Bobcat Drumline. Additionally, Alex marched snare drum with Boston Crusaders, and also at Santa Clara Vanguard under Paul Rennick. Alex has taught and worked with multiple high school drumlines in Texas including Vista Ridge HS, James Bowie HS, Round Rock HS, Hebron HS, Alamo Heights HS, Lehman HS, and Stephen F. Austin HS (latter three alongside Jordan Garza). Alex is a great instructor and has already presented clinics both at Midwest and TMEA. With more staff announcements to come, we're excited to announce the opening of registration for the NEW Rhythmic Force Percussion! You've been able to meet and read about all the new additions to our team, and we can't wait to share more about what this season has in store! One additional change from the old RF to the new, is that for the first time we are going to be hosting Experience Camps prior to auditions. These experience camps are a great opportunity to meet our staff in person, learn our technique, get a head start on the audition materials, and learn from some of the AMAZING educators that make up our new program. AUSTIN, TX (August 25, 2017) – Colin Davis graduated in 2011 from Michigan State University with a degree in human physiology. Colin was the cymbal instructor with Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011 and 2012, and taught the cymbal line at Legends Drum and Bugle corps (Kalamazoo, MI) in 2014 and recently taught the 2017 Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps cymbal line. Colin was previously the cymbal instructor and a part of the creative cymbal design with NorthCoast Academy from 2012 to 2016. Colin has been a cymbal instructor and consultant for multiple WGI Finalists including Stryke Percussion, 2015 WGI Scholastic A Champion Lake Orion Percussion, Huron Valley Percussion, Farmington United Percussion, and 5points Percussion.

AUSTIN, TX (August 24, 2017) – Mike embodies excellence and Rhythmic Force is excited to have him joining our visual team this upcoming season! Mike has some astounding performance and leadership experience with variety of ensembles. He marched with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps on euphonium in 2011, and served as the lead Drum Major in 2012. Prior to that, he was the Drum Major of the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2009 and 2010. He was also the Drum Major for the Bands of America Honor Marching Band that participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade in 2009. Mike has been presented with the Who’s Who Among Students in American University and Colleges Award and the DCI Jim Jones Leadership Scholarship. He is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, and is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mr. Roche is a regularly contacted leadership, music, visual, and communications instructor for organizations ranging from high school to college to professional levels, most notably the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. AUSTIN, TX (August 22, 2017) – Frank is ecstatic about being able to work within a highly qualified and knowledgeable staff that includes some of his friends and teachers as a part of the NEW Rhythmic Force this season; We are glad to have him teaching the #RF2018 cymbal line!
Frank draws on multiple years of experience both as a performer and instructor. He started playing cymbals as a member of Teatro Indoor Percussion in 2014, aged-out of DCI with Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corp in 2015, and aged out of WGI with Monarch Independent Percussion in 2016. As an educator, Frank has been on the battery staff working with the cymbal line for The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, and WGI Open Class Finalist, 5points Percussion, New Braunfels HS, Hays HS and Winston Churchill HS.
